Lerna Babikyan

Lerna Babikyan born in Istanbul. She completed her undergraduate education in Adult Education Department, then study modern dance as a second degree. She worked choreographers and trainers like Eric Kaile, Loretta Livingstone, Mathew Hopkins, Juan Kruz Diaz Esnaola, Anne Green Gilbert, Keith Hannesy, Faustin Linyekula Ngoy, Tetsuro Fukuhara, Suprapto Suryodarmo, Eva Blashke, Billie Hanne, Susan Bauer . As a dancer, performer/choreographer; she performed her solo pieces in many local and international contemporary dance festivals, joined artistic residency programs in different countries; such as İtaly, Hungary, Germany, Austuria, Portugal, USA, collaborated with artists from varied disciplines. She worked in front of camera as an actress, performer and directed short dance movies 

Since 1997, by combining her knowledge & experience in dance and learning science; she has been leading creative dance, improvisation and dance composition classes with varied ages in locations like Cati Contemporary Dance Association, Tatwerk Performative, K77, Berlin British Schools and many public&private schools.  She established "Creative Dance Teacher Training Workshop" in 2015 and later also develop programs for classroom teachers, psychologists, social workers on dance pedagogy and kinesthetic learning. She is developing dance and movement combined pre-school curriculums, kinesthetic learning programs, seminars for the educators and classroom teachers, presentations in conferences like Eudec and Alternative Education Conferences, Istanbul. 

She did following researches in her ma studies; "Effects of Creative Dance in 10 Years Old Children; on creativity, meta memory skills and physical activity", "Effects of Body Based Movement Training on Enhancing Creativity and Awareness" 

She inspires from archeology, history of art, botanics, calligraphy and poetry while design a curriculum or a creating performances. She continues her researches&creations as an independent artist...
